15 year old kid takes nine for one, scores 196*

by mspr1nt on February 7, 2012

Somebody call the IPL! A 15-year old kid from Cape Town took a nine-wicket haul for just one run.

Then, just to make sure people know that he’s good, he hit an unbeaten 196 off 76.

This all happened when Rondebosch Boys’ High School were taking on DF Malan on Saturday, and Dayyaan Galiem ripped through DF’s batting line up, taking nine wickets in seven overs. No hat tricks and no wickets off consecutive balls as DF Malan were bowled all out for 18 – crazy, right?

Well, it gets crazier. Because the game finished early, the two sides thought they’d play a t20 match, as you do. Galiem then hammered 196 off 76 balls as RBH cruised to 266-2, meaning the kid scored nearly 75% of his team’s runs – he’s gotta be taking the piss?

To prove just how terrible they are, DF folded to 54 all out – without Dayyaan bowling a single ball, you know, so the other kids could play too.

RBH coach, Rob Dalrymple, confirms it was  the best in recorded history at the school”.

Just a fortnight ago, the 15 year old was playing for WP under-19 – hitting an unbeaten 102 – batting at number 8.

Step aside, Shaylen Pillay….

If IPL franchises were like Arsenal, he’d be off to India in a couple of months…

Just glad I never faced him in school…

You make a good point though we should definitely have a cricket academy where potential talents like this can be nurtured by the best. Imagine this talent molded with the guidance of Amla, De Villiers, Kallis and Steyn.

We do have an academy. Biggest one in Cape Town is the Gary Kirsten Academy. And Vinnie Barnes runs the high performance centre. No problem when it comes to developing privileged talented in SA.

Cool never knew that – so what we really need is to get a better scouting network
