About

Ex-Paddlesweepers now Wicketmaideners.

There’s no tale of glory. There’s no prince. Just a bunch of ordinary folk, thinking they know better than the experts. While  Wicket Maiden is primarily a cricket blog, the South Africans who contribute here are no xenophobes to other sport. Any  warm-blooded South African will tell you that sport is ingrained, bashed and beaten into us from the day we leave our father’s nuts.

It’s our blog and we’ll write what we want to. That doesn’t mean that the views published here are the views of our employers or of anybody else that we are affiliated with.  These disclaimers are a bit silly, but they are necessary. Each post is the writer’s own views and it’s not necessarily the view of the editor, owner or advertisers of this blog. Relax a little. Don’t take things so seriously. Most of what you read on here is satire and everything is entirely made up. We’ll add disclaimers at the end of those posts to make sure you get it (unless we forget to, in which case, this disclaimer will have to suffice).

Paddlesweep.net won SA Sports Blog of the year at the 2010 Blog Awards and was featured in SA Sports Illustrated as Blog of the Month in 2010, but all good thing must come to an end and we’re now looking forward to new challenges.
